Recharge on Winegrapes
Sustainable Conservation, in collaboration with California Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance (CSWA), is looking for winegrape growers to interview for a better understand of on-farm recharge on vineyards. The goals is to interview vineyard growers and advisers with experience applying excess water for the purposes of recharge and those who are interested and have not yet tried, recharge.
Grower selection criteria for interviews:
Willing and able to use available water sources to accelerate groundwater recharge on vineyard; no previous experience required.
Access to surface water for crop irrigation, or access to other sources of water that could be used for vineyard irrigation and OFR during wet/dry year conditions.
Able to apply available water on a portion of cropland at flood irrigation rates.
Willing to work with Sustainable Conservation and CSWA to document OFR practices and crop health and yield.
